Santa Cruz Host Lions, together with community volunteers, collect used eyeglasses for donation to Lion’s Eyeglass Recycling Centers located throughout the world. The used eyeglasses are cleaned, repaired, and classified by description. The eyeglasses are then distributed to those in need by Lion volunteers and other organizations hosting optical missions in developing nations. Those who assist the Lions in their collecting efforts include: Palo Alto Medical Optical Department, Costco, Goodwill, Grey Bears, local libraries and numerous the local opticians and other organizations shown at the bottom of this page.

​These efforts have resulted in the Santa Cruz Host Lions taking first place for eyeglass collections at the Lions District Convention. If you would like to help collect eyeglasses, email us at santacruzhostlionsclub@gmail.com and we will happily furnish you with a collection box. In the last year 8,000 pairs were collected thanks to chairman Lion Steve Benson!
